The Mazda CX-5 is about to undergo a major and essential overhaul, and if you were waiting for something fresh goes aside maybe the update you hoped. With hybrid powertrain, a more intelligent interior arrangement and a higher -end design, the upcoming model seems promising.

After almost nine years since the second generation CX-5 struck the street for the first time in 2016, a prototype of the compact SUV was recently spotted in navigation in Los Angeles, offering a first overview of what is in store . Here is everything we know so far on the CX-5 redesigned before its official beginnings.
Distinctly familiar, but new
Mazda’s Kodo design language continues to evolve, and the next CX-5 is an excellent example. The new model mixes robust elegance with a touch of sportiness, especially at the front, where an inlays of winged interior grille afflicts the cascade headlights and a stacked DRL cluster.
While a large part of the silhouette retains a familiar outline, the notable changes include a pillar in D as it is typical of Mazda’s design philosophy, the body remains free from severe folds, which gives it a feeling of superior quality which should age gracefully over time.

At the back, Mazda’s new “paper” script, seen for the first time on the recently revealed Mazda EZ6 / 6th, replaces the traditional logo that we have all learned. The rear lights are inspired by the largest CX-90, creating a cohesive design language in the Mazda SUV range.
A technological and spacious interior
Inside, expect a premium and spacious cabin. The dashboard should include a group of rectangular instruments and an infotainment display, similar to tablet style screens found in BMW, Mercedes-Benz and current Audi products.
The rear passengers will benefit from a higher roof line, offering an improvement in the space for the head, while the loading space will also see a boost.
The key characteristics will probably include the integration of the Amazon Alexa vocal command, a panoramic sunroof and the Mazda pilot personalization system, seen for the first time in the CX-60, in higher versions. This system allows the SUV to adjust the parameters such as the seat position, air conditioning and mirrors with individual driver profiles.
Power Hybrid – Finally!
Under the hood, a new parallel hybrid system allows the wheels to be driven by the electric motor alone, a combination of electricity and the internal combustion engine (ice) or only by ice. In terms of arrangement, images of fresh patents from Japan reveal a transverse four -cylinder engine associated with an electric motor positioned to the right, with a sandwich -taken transmission between the two.

Mazda is expected to keep its 2.5-liter Skyactiv-G petrol engine with natural suction and 2.5-liter turbocharged units of the current car. From 2027, the new mazda Skyactiv-Z mazda motorcycle groups will be on the flow with progress in terms of thermal efficiency and fuel economy.
Below, the CX-5 will climb on the rigid “small platform” of the automaker, shared with the Mazda 3 and CX-30. The front and all -wheel drive configurations will continue to be offered.
Rival and reveal
The new generation CX-5 will face solid competition in a market on Bonda of SUVs, by facing rivals like the Toyota Rav4, Honda Cr-V, Kia Sportage, Hyundai Tucson, Subaru Forester, Ford Escape, Nissan Rogue / X -Trail, Mitsubishi Outlander and VW Tiguan.
An official revelation will occur in the coming months. In fact, the South African Division of Mazda accidentally overthrew beans, revealing that the new CX-5 will make its world debut between July and September, launched as a vehicle of the 2026 model year in the United States.
