- The personalized Michelin Pilot Sport S 5 tires measure 275/35 at the front and 335/30 at the rear.
- Pirelli and Goodyear also offer compounds of tires focused on the personalized track for the 911 GT3 RS.
- These new Michelin tires can save more than 10 seconds per turn on a wet circuit.
The current Porsche 911 GT3 RS is one of the fastest legal sports cars in a circuit, but even Porsche realizes that time does not always cooperate with track days. As such, it is in partnership with Michelin to launch a new tire in wet weather for the GT3 RS which promises to extend the “season of the track day” and to provide a better lifespan than the other tires offered For the car.
The tires in question are the new Michelin Pilot Sport S 5. These tires are already used by several other OEMs for their high performance models, but those of the 911 GT3 RS have been specifically developed for Porsche with fresh and humid time in Esprit. They join three other tires that Michelin sells for the GT3 RS, including winter tires and the Pilot Sport Cup 2 R Ultra-high-performance for dry conditions.

Porsche began to co-develop the Special Pilot Sport S 5 compound with Michelin in 2022. The rubber finished 7.4 mm deep tread depth and four large central grooves to expel as much water as possible. Tires also have a higher proportion of silica than normal, which allows them to operate optimally at temperatures between 40 and 60 degrees Fahrenheit.
The difference between these tires and the tires of the Pilot Sport 2 sports CUP 2 focused on weather conditions is significant. Indeed, around a wet circuit of 1.7 mile on the Michelin development circuit, GT3 RSS with the new Pilot Sport S 5 tires was more than 10 seconds per turn faster.
Like the other tires offered for the 911 focused on the track, these new Michelins measure 275/35 ZR 20 at the front and 335/30 ZR 21 at the rear. They will be available exclusively via Porsche centers in the United States, but prices and availability details have not yet been announced.
“We are responding to the demand of our customers particularly focused on the performance that expressed the desire to spend more time on the right track in spring and fall,” GT vehicle director in Porsche said Andreas said Andreas PREUNINGER. “The new tires considerably increase the annual operating window of the 911 GT3 RS.”
Several other tires of different brands have been developed for the 911 GT3 RS. For example, Pirelli offers its P Zero Trofeo RS tires for the car, while Goodyear has developed special Eagle F1 Supersport R and F1 Supersport RS for Porsche Hardcore tires .
