  • Genesis focuses on electric models as part of their new strategy.
  • He would have decided against a hybrid G70 but envisages an EV.

The Genesis G70 is always one of the best sports sedans on the market, offering great versatile performance with luxury and refinement levels that are generally not found at its price, however, certainly, its sales did not reflect that. But since all good things should end, it seems that the G70 days are counted. According to a new report on Korea, its replacement will be an electric vehicle.

Genesis has been building the G70 for seven and a half years and has already been deleted in certain markets, including Europe, where the brand now sells its remaining stock during its transition to an all -electric range. With Genesis determined to offer only electrified models in the future, transforming the G70 into an electric vehicle is a logical movement.

A Korean youtuber named Motorsjason says that Genesis previously planned to make a hybrid G70, but has since decided to follow the battery electric road. The new generation G70 could also use Hyundai Motor Group’s EM architecture, designed as a successor to the current E-GMP.

Hyundai has been working on this new platform for a few years now, and it should be used by future models such as Kia EV8, Hyundai Ioniq 3 and Genesis GV90. He promises to support the latest driver assistance systems from the car manufacturer and the new package battery system that replaces traditional modules.

Details limited on the potential electric G70 are known, but it can follow in the footsteps of the GV60 and receive a high performance magma version, perhaps serving a convincing alternative to the performance of Tesla Model 3.

Carscoops has contacted Genesis looking for additional information and we will update this story when we hear.

If the Electric G70 is lit in green for production, the first reports suggest that it could bear a starting price of around 70 million won on its domestic market, or just under $ 50,000.
